I’m a physician, not a physicist or historian. But I’m fascinated by Albert Einstein and how he could perceive what nobody had before about physical reality. This led me to assemble a collection over several decades of Einstein’s original documents and signed photographs. This book features these rare materials and what they reveal about Einstein, the man, and his mind.

About Michael DiRuggiero
Michael DiRuggiero is co-founder and current owner of The Manhattan Rare Book Company. He has been in the rare book business for 25 years, specializing in the history of science, with particular emphasis on material relating to Albert Einstein.
Michael helped to acquire what is believed to be the biggest collection of Einstein imagery in private hands. He and Dr. Berger collaborated in writing this book to share the joy of studying these images, thoughts, and discoveries of the iconic pioneer of modern physics.
About Hanoch Gutfreund
Hanoch Gutfreund is academic director of the Albert Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where is also professor emeritus of theoretical physics and past President.
Professor Gutfreund is one of the world’s foremost Einstein authorities. He has written several books about Albert Einstein and relativity. These include Einstein On Einstein: Autobiographical and Scientific Reflections, The Formative Years of Relativity, and The Road to Relativity.
In 2018, he met with Berger and DiRuggiero in Chapel Hill, NC to review items in this collection, which led to the three-way collaboration for Einstein: The Man and His Mind.
